Terms of use

Hindsight is developed and operated by Chris Rainey, known as Crainey. Contact contact@crainey.co.uk with questions. These terms explain use of the website and sharing feature alongside the software's licences.

Software licence

Hindsight is distributed under the GNU General Public License version 3 included with the software. Third-party components have their own licences and notices. These terms do not reduce rights granted by those licences. The licence's warranty and liability provisions apply subject to any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Your recordings and uploads

You control what Hindsight records and which exported videos it uploads. Record and share only content you are entitled to use, and respect other people's privacy and applicable law. Review your clip before uploading, particularly if it contains conversations, usernames or other personal information.

Connecting YouTube authorizes the sharing feature but does not upload a video. An upload starts when you select YouTube and press Upload video. You choose the title and request Private, Unlisted or Public visibility. YouTube may enforce different visibility, continue processing, reject content, or apply account, quota or project restrictions.

YouTube terms and privacy

By using Hindsight's YouTube sharing feature, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Review the Hindsight privacy policy before connecting. Google/YouTube's processing is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Hindsight's YouTube sharing is currently in testing. Access may be limited to registered test users, an unverified-app warning may appear, and API uploads may be restricted to Private while provider reviews are pending. Hindsight does not promise uninterrupted upload availability or a particular processing time.

Disconnecting and removing content

Disconnect in Share removes the locally saved YouTube connection on this PC. You can also revoke Hindsight's access in your Google account connections. Neither action deletes uploaded videos. Manage or delete those videos in YouTube Studio, and delete local recordings and exports on your PC.

If an upload's delivery is uncertain, check YouTube Studio before retrying to avoid duplicates. A successful upload response can precede completion of YouTube's processing.

Changes and contact

Hindsight and its integrations may change as the software or provider requirements change. Updated terms will be published here with a revised date. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under applicable law or the software's licences.
